Susan Austin is a Colorado artist inspired by the beauty of the outdoors and she paints subjects of her Rocky Mountain Region.  Her extreme realistic style is evident in this composition of an old weathered Bristlecone Pine, titled "Tribute to Survival".

This painting was originally purchased in 1988 at a "two artist" show in Redstone, CO hosted by Elk Mountain Gallery.

Taken from the original brochure from this show, "Susan's understanding of and sensitivity for Colorado, its land, its wildlife, and its people is expressed in her work.  Working in oils, her emphasis is placed on close detail and precise treatment of her subject.  While maintaining creativity, her work is almost photographic."
